WSCC Bristol & Bath Events 2005

JANUARY

Saturday 29th

AO’s meeting with Westfield management at the factory.  Chris to take Bristol & Bath area’s ideas to AO meeting on 29th Jan at the Westfield Factory.

 FEBRUARY

Thursday 17th - Area Meeting at the Cross Hands, Old Sodbury

First area meeting of the New Year.  Discuss events programme for New Year, collect “slush fund” (£5) contributions, and confirm WSCC membership details.

MARCH

Sunday 13th - Annual Karting Event

Race against neighbouring WSCC Areas - Hosted this year by the Cheltenham & Gloucester area, to be held at Winners Karting, Wroughton, Swindon (http://www.actiondrome.co.uk)

TIME – Arrive around 13:15 (starts at 13:30)

FORMAT – 1.5hr Endurance race.

A team of drivers must do as many laps as possible in the 90 mins of the race. That requires swift driver changes and tidy driving. Every moment banished to the pits for a stop-go penalty wastes valuable laps!! So for those novices out there – you could be the saviour of your team as it’s usually the good ones that get into mischief!!! You have been warned!!! There'll be a minimum number of driver changes to make it fair.

COST - £120 per cart (£30 each for 4 drivers or £40 each for 3 drivers)

Extra information:

- We NEED 8 Karts to make up the grid (10 karts max)

-  Will be finished before 4pm (then off to the pub for a quick drink!)

I WANT TO COME – WHAT DO I DO?

Send Tony Sighe a cheque for £30 each (£40 each if you’re in a team of 3) by Friday 25th Feb at the latest.

Thursday 17th - Area Meeting at the Cross Hands, Old Sodbury
Track Developments Vehicle Handling Talk.

Hope to see a few cars venturing to the meeting (if the weather is kind?)

We’ve got a one hour talk from the Technical Director of Track Development Ltd covering basic /introductory vehicle dynamics, advanced dynamics including linear and non-linear damping, tyre characteristic curves, polar moments, conjugate-point suspension geometry and certain aspects of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) as they may apply to sportscar aerodynamics. Also a bit of practical advice for race set-ups & trackdays.

APRIL

Thursday 21st - Area Meeting at the Cross Hands, Old Sodbury

Check your exhaust sound levels before the track days start in earnest.  We’ll be running noise level tests in the car park.

Saturday 23rd - Spring Action Day at Castle Combe

A chance to take your car on the track. Or just come along and park in our WSCC reserved club space and meet up with your fellow Westfield owners. Many enjoy just watching the 'amateur' driving on the track!  Contact me for free entry tickets & club paddock parking, and remember to buy your half price track pass (£15) from me in advance.

Friday 27th - Hullavington Airfield day!

Majority vote was for Hullavington (near M4 jnc 17 - Malmsbury) on Friday 27th May. This is a joint effort with WSCC members from Cheltenham & Gloucester, Thames Valley, Bath & Bristol and Hants & Wilts. So if we could all 'book early', we could dominate this event with Westies!!

Cost is £99 per car for full day - open pit (extra £10 per driver)
