Welcome to
"SHROPSHIRE & MIDWALES"

 "WESTFIELD SPORTS CAR CLUB"

Enjoy the following profiles and information written by members on themselves and their cars!

To start with, here is Louise, our Previous Club Secretary, now happily retired!

Hi!, my name is Louise,

I'm a Nursery Nurse working with 3/4 year olds.  My friends and colleagues think I'm barking, but in their words, great for a laugh!

Interests are firstly my car, pub quizzes, water colour painting, making beaded jewellery (that's a recent winter one) and going along to the summer bikes meets (as shown on the news).  In the past I have frozen my butt off many a time windsurfing at Lake Bala, also waterskiing off the Welsh Coast!

I have been a member of Shropshire & Mid-Wales WSCC for the past 4 years, and currently are in my second year as Club Secretary.

I own and drive a 1700 Xflow Westfield, which is at present up for sale (see our For Sale page). ( Sorry guys its sold now ); My husband, Stu, introduced me to Westfield's, he thought I might have a better chance of keeping up with him on his Suzuki TL1000 (v-twin motorbike). A Maclaren F1 would have stood more of a chance, but that was out of the question cos' we needed a passenger seat as we have 2  boys (16yrs) both of which enjoy the car and bike (unfortunately more the latter!).  Their hobbies are popping wheelies on their bikes, which they are pretty good at!, course fishing and remote control car racing.  Stu's first love is his TL1000 followed closely by his Mitsubishi Colt GTI.  He has the same hobbies as the lads and is currently renovating a Robin Hood kit car.

That's a little insight into myself and family, now more interestingly my car.  I bought her from a chap in Bolton who lovingly started the project in 1989, registering her in 1990.  The engine, a X-flow originally a 1600cc was bored out to 1700cc and fitted with a roadrace cam.  She has twin 40 carbs and produces 135 bhp. with a 3.5 diff. and 4 speed box.  She has a lot of power off the mark and is great for playing with boy racers at the traffic lights! (oops! I didn't really say that!).  Curborough is a more appropriate place for putting this to the test, which I try to attend twice a year with fellow club mates (highly recommended for the boy/girl racers).  I enjoy all aspects of the club and we do our best to provide a varied programme with hopefully something of interest for everyone.  Thankfully I'm not the only girl in the club, so to speak, if any of you girls are interested, please do come along and see what we're all about!

Louise.

Mark is our current Westfield Speed Series Competitor with his superbly prepared Westfield.

More details on Mark, his car and forthcoming events he has entered shortly.

In the meantime, here is a pic of  Mark getting second place in class at Loton Park on 31st March 2002!

Andrew Watson

Hi, I'm Andrew Watson,

I'm 35 and live in Priorslee Telford with my wife Catherine, daughter Megan(4) and son Oliver (0.3).

To fund this expensive hobby I work as General Manager for Dairy Crest at their National Distribution Centre in Nuneaton. (the long daily commute is made easier now as I've just taken delivery of an Audi A6 2.5 TDi - although the gearless "multitronic" transmission takes some getting used - especially after jumping out the Westfield.)

I'd always wanted a Westfield so after a years motorbiking I decided to take the "easy" route of buying a complete modular build from the factory last August.

As you can see from the 2 pictures below I managed to bolt it together!

(not too many bits left over )! I even managed to convince the VRO in Shrewsbury to give me a new "02" plate. I joined the club in May having got the car on the road in April. I love the monthly Thursday evening drives (Long Mynd excluded!) and hope to join in more of the weekend activities, although family commitments make this difficult.

The car is powered by an 1800 Ford Zetec and I've just had the factory change the cams to provide the 150BHP I should have had in the first place!
